Des Peres Snowfall (Landscape Oil Painting)

I guess when it is hot outside I have to try and put myself someplace else.  This past winter I shot a number of photos early one morning as the sun was coming up.  The trees caused such a wonderful luminous pattern on the snow.  The photos have been sitting around for a time, but I finally did something with one of them.  This painting measures 8" x 10" and is painted on a gessoed ampersand panel.

Barrier in the Snow

This shows three stages I went through with this painting.  I think I'm pretty much there, but have to put it aside for a while and think about it.  I was inspired by a very simple, but beautiful photo that my sister emailed me.  The photo is gorgeous as is, but I had to try and see what I could do with it.  This painting is on panel and measures 18" x 36".

Crab Place in Winter

Oil on canvas
15.5" x 23"  ©2003

I did this painting 6 years ago and decided I wanted to change it.  The painting above this one is the result.
